Exchange of good practices in the field of disability, physical activity and social inclusion through sport, in particular swimming, through the realization of 3 transnational workshops focused on the creation of a Manual on how to teach swimming to students with disabilities that addresses the needs of professionals of the sport, namely swim instructors, operators, teachers trainers, to have a well-structured Guide to follow so that they can teach swimming to disabled students according to their differing abilities in order to reach their full potential.
Workshop No.1 – Literature review, Classification of functioning and disability groups-Specification-Guidelines for the creation and development of the courses of the Swim your way Manual.
It will be held in Ljubljana (Slovenia) and will be organized and hosted by Športno društvo Riba. It will be focused on the literature review on the main topic of the project and the classification of functioning and disability. During this workshop the consortium will define the Specifications and Guidelines for the creation and development of the courses that will be included in the Swim your way Manual. Finally, each partner that is involved in the implementation of the swimming courses will be assigned to one of the selected disability groups to work with. The workshop will last 2 days and all the partners will participate with 2 staff members from their organization.
Workshop No.2 –Presentation of the designed courses for each disability group -Evaluation of the quality and efficiency of the courses- Selection of designed courses and supporting material-tools.
It will be held in in Bucharest (Romania) and will be organized and hosted by the National University of Physical Education and Sport Bucharest (Romania). During this Workshop each partner will present their suggestions on the courses and the supporting material-tools that will be used during the courses. After the presentations, the partnership will evaluate the quality and efficiency of each designed courses and the supporting material-tools. Then the partnership will jointly decide and select the form of each course and the supporting material- tools to be used. The workshop will last 2 days and all the partners will participate with 2 staff members from their organization. After this workshop each partner will put into practice a Pilot Program of the designed courses by implementing at a number of students (no less than 5 according to the selected disability group), for two months. Then via a Skype conference the partners will share the results of the pilot program and if needed they will make the necessary adjustments so that the lessons meet the needs of the students. After the Skype conference and the possible adjustments, the partners will continue to implement the program for at least four more months.
Workshop n.3 – Presentation of the results of the implementation of the designed courses to the students with disabilities, Final evaluation of the implemented program-Final adjustments and Decision about the structure of the Guide on how to teach Swimming to students with disabilities.
It will be held in Rome, Italy and will be organized and hosted by Associazione Euphoria. It will be focused on presenting the results of the implementation of the designed courses and the supporting material. Also, at this workshop the consortium will decide the structure of the Guide, gather the material and start to give the final form to the Swim your way Guide. The workshop will last 2 days and all the partners will participate with 2 staff members from their organization.
